Each January for the past 23 years, the City of Ormond Beach has celebrated art and culture with a Friday Night gallery walk called "Starry Starry Night." The 2013 edition of "Starry Starry Night" will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 4.
The Casements Cultural Center will present the paintings of Carolyn Land in an exhibition called "Mindscape."
The Ormond Beach Historical Society table inside the Casements will show the video "Ormond Discovery."
Less than a block away from the Casements, the Ormond Memorial Art Museum will be exhibiting the abstract work of Antoinette Slick and Jenny Balisle in "Through the Layers: Two Artists Revealed."
The Ormond Memorial Art Museum will also host its monthly Free Family Art Night between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Adults are invited to help the children in their lives create this month's project, a Dr. Seuss-inspired Lorax pencil holder with trufulla-tree pencil forest. (For Dr. Seuss novices, the Lorax speaks for the trees). The drop-in class is free of charge and will take place rain or shine.
End the evening with an outdoor showing of the family-friendly (PG) movie "Dr. Seuss's the Lorax". The movie is shown in Rockefeller Gardens and is weather dependent.
The Ormond Memorial Art Museum is at 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach. For more information, call 386-676-3347.
